Marcus Vail spent 12 years as a machinist before he picked up a hammer and tried his hand at knifemaking. That was 2009. Today, Cascade operates out of a converted mill in Bend, producing around 400 blades a year — no CNC shortcuts, no outsourced handles. Each knife is heat-treated in-house and gets a 30-minute hand-finishing session before it ships.
